Fibromyalgia is thought to be a disease in which the immune system is chronically overactive. One of the main culprits is a proinflammatory cytokine, Interleukin-6 (IL-6), believed to be involved in the overactivity of the immune system in people with fibromyalgia. Plant sterols have been shown to decrease IL-6 by approximately 25%.[1]
It has also been theorized that fibromyalgia is partially due to an increase in free radicals, with fewer antioxidants and more oxidative damage being measured in people with this disease. Celt Naturals Immuno-Care® contains an important antioxidant in the form of grape seed extract, enhanced with phytosome technology for much greater absorption, which is capable of reducing free radicals that contribute to the development of muscle pain and fatigue disorders.[2, 3]
